This season, our Directors of Coaching have decided to move away from the "tryout" format and towards an "evaluation"-centered approach. Over the past few seasons, we've noticed the number of "cuts" we make has dwindled. With this new approach, the focus is on the individual players more than ever. After all, that's why we're here: for the players.
Yes, please make your best effort to attend both sessions! Evaluating players with other players in their age group is the most effective way of receiving an accurate representation of players' abilities. More opportunities for players to be seen allows coaches to get more familiar with players and gives us an opportunity to see different combinations of players. Especially for players new to our programs, the more sessions the better.
Yes, please register your child even if unable to attend! Our Directors of Coaching use the players listed in this registration for team formations and is our primary source to gauge player interest. If players are not in this registration, we cannot consider them for team formations/placements.
The $25 Registration Fee covers insurance costs for participants. This allows us to protect players and the Club. Likewise, Registrations must be completed before players are allowed on the field.
Yes, please register for both. These registration lists are used by our Directors of Coaching in different ways and cover different ranges of players. Players that are not registered in programs are assumed to be not participating.
The Evaluations registration covers all players eligible and interested in playing for our Travel program in the 2025-2026 season.
The Saturday Morning Clinics are open to all players, including players too young to participate in Travel.
The Evaluation Process consists of the information gathered at the Evaluations dates between 7/26 and 8/1 (as well as Saturday Morning Clinics for those born 2013 and later), and from discussions with coaches of team(s) involved.
Players at the Evaluations will be asked to participate in small-sided and full-sided games to see how they interact with each other, how their skills relate to each other, and how players interact with coaches. All of these factors will be used in the evaluation process to ensure players are put in the best place for their development along with the development of the players around them.
In the past we've run drills during Tryouts that provided us with quantitative/numerical data. This information was largely unused. Removing this portion allows us to place players in a more game-like setting that shows us players' abilities and understanding of the game in the game. Removing the testing allows players to relax and be themselves. Ultimately, we want the players to be themselves, show us what they know and what they're capable of. Our Directors of Coaching feel this is the best way this to happen.
