| The Rush-Henrietta Soccer Club sponsors three levels of
soccer: House, Select and Travel. In a given season (August 1st -
July 31st), your child can play House, House and Select, or
Travel.
The
House
Program is focused on skills development and recreational play.
At the younger age levels, the primary focus is to instill a love of
soccer while introducing the basic skills, rules, and elements of the
game. Coaches will encourage fun, participation, and skill development,
within a primarily non-competitive environment conducive to fair and
equal play. At the higher age levels, the program will continue to
focus on player development with emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship,
while progressively introducing game strategies and moderate
competition. House teams do not participate in tournaments.
House teams attempt to provide equal playing time to all players.
The
Select Program is an extension of the House Program for
girls and boys starting at the U9 age bracket. To be eligible to play
select, you must be a registered House participant. The Select
program is a step up in competition as compared to the normal House
level of play. Select allows skilled House players a greater
challenge than House without the commitment to the Travel program.
The Select season consists of weekend tournaments that run from early
June to late July. Each select team determines its own practice schedule
and which tournaments they choose to enter. Although it is encouraged
that all players on a select team get an opportunity to play in
tournament games, the amount of playing time each player receives is at
the discretion of the coach. There is additional cost to play select
depending upon the number of tournaments a team chooses to enter.
A
Select player may not play on a Travel team.
The
Travel
Program is the highest level of competition within
the RHSC. Starting at the U8 age bracket, players may try out for a
travel team during pre-season tryouts (typically in September). Travel
teams typically play an indoor season in addition to the normal outdoor
season. Travel teams also will practice throughout most of the year
unlike In-House or Select. During the season, Travel teams play top
teams from the Rochester area (i.e. Greece, Irondequoit, Penfield,
Pittsford, etc.) Like Select, Travel teams may also enter tournaments
during the year. Also like Select, playing time is at the discretion of
the coach. A Travel player may not play on a Select team.
