Coaching Changes Implemented in 2005
In the last few years, we have had a serious
shortage of parents willing to coach. Our approach has been to accept
all of the children who register and then call parents with increasing
pressure to volunteer. This approach is frustrating and time consuming
to the board members, frustrating to parents and often leads to coaches
who are not really interested in coaching.
Last year, we made some significant changes that we
will continue this season:
-
We will recognize and reward those that do
volunteer to coach
-
We will provide training so those who are
interested, but are new to soccer can step forward.
-
We will not accept more children than we have
coaches available. Every team will have a head coach and one
assistant coach.
-
We will identify a coaching coordinator for
each age group.
Automatic Team Placement
If a parent is willing to volunteer as a head coach or assistant
coach, their child will be placed on a team regardless of their position
on the waiting list based on the order of registration and subject to
standard age guidelines.
If a head coach brings along an assistant coach, we will place the
child of the assistant coach on that team. The club will only
officially recognize one assistant coach per team.
Head Coach Reimbursement
We will reimburse each In-house head coach for the cost of one child
per team that they head coach this season. This is intended to be a
gesture of thanks from the club to those parents willing to put in the
considerable time to head coach. This does not apply to assistant
coaches. A head coach with multiple children on a team will only be
reimbursed for one child per team coached.
We will reimburse the head coach after successful completion of the
full season. A head coach who only coaches part of the season will not
be eligible for this reimbursement. Reimbursement will be made only
after all equipment borrowed by that coach has been returned to the
club.
Coaching Training Reimbursement
We will reimburse coaches who attend the E-licensing training class
for 50% of the class cost ($95) if they agree to coach another season
with the club. We will reimburse them at the April coaching kickoff
meeting. Both head coaches and assistant coaches are eligible for this
reimbursement.

coaching
training options we have for this season.
Full Coaching Staff
We will not form a team unless we have a commitment from both a head
coach and an assistant coach.
